Who is the Ekklesia Project?

The Ekklesia Project is a community of Christians who have found life-giving friendship through a shared hope in the vision of God’s good shalom. From across the ecclesial spectrum, we gather virtually and in person, supporting each other and our communities in the beautiful, vexing, imperfect work of bearing witness to the non-violent way of the Cross. Together as members of Christ’s borderless body, and committed to our own constant conversion and to unlearning habits of domination, we find courage to profess our unwillingness to be at home in structures and systems rooted in the economics of scarcity and the politics of fear. To find out more, visit ekklesiaproject.org, or read our initial pamphlet, The Ekklesia Project: A School for Subversive Friendship.

Why “Called Out”? Our title reflects both the literal meaning of ekklesia in Greek, as well as the ways that, like the disciples in the gospels, we constantly find ourselves needing to be “called out” for the subtle ways that we are co-opted by the principalities and powers.

Called Out is made freely available to Substack readers. If you appreciate the resources shared here, please consider helping to sustain our work. Practicing the manna economy, the EP relies entirely on donations, so we would be grateful for your financial support!
