In addition to our weekly Lectionary Reflections, we’re hoping to use our new Substack as a place to share resources and congregational practices. If you’ve got a congregational practice to share for the building up of the church, please email us at info@ekklesiaproject.org!
Here’s our first practice:
In response to our Gathering last Summer on climate grief, our friends at Christ Community Church did a “Native Seed Share” last Sunday. In gathered worship they confessed their participation in the desecration of God’s good earth and then moved towards reconciliation by taking home some packets of native seeds to spread throughout the city in their own gardens and along bike paths. Native seeds in Iowa need to be planted in the Fall (they won’t germinate without a freeze), but this practice can be done whenever planting time comes in your own neighborhood.
They’ve shared this practice with us so you can consider sharing native seeds in your local community as well.
